As the sun sets on a brilliant penultimate day of Christmastide in Atlanta we await the coldest night so far in what has been a very comfortable winter. Stillness and early stars reminded me of this:
Lux Aurumque (Light and Gold)
Lux,
Calida gravisque pura velut aurum
Et canunt angeli molliter
modo natum.
Light,
warm and heavy as pure gold
and angels sing softly
to the new-born babe.
