"I'm Waiting For The Second Coming ... Of John Dean"

Those who remember Watergate know that the story smoked for a long time until it reached the flash point known as John Dean. Once linked to the Watergate crime, he was the insider who did "the right thing" by cooperating with prosecutors thus helping to bring down Richard Nixon. President Nixon had been cultivating the attribute "tricky" since 1950. Fast forward to the unpleasantness surrounding the White House today and we have this from psychiatrist, Jory Goodman:

Notwithstanding the political bent, or bent politics of the MSM, Fox, talk radio, the internet and Drudge, most of what we have now is speculative and circumstantial. So I await the second coming. Will it happen? That's an absolute maybe. But, I'll betcha, among Benghazi, the IRS, Justice, the White House, et. al., there are many people who know the truth and can prove what they know. Will there be one, or a few, with the the cojones to come out, for any of the above reasons, or others (maybe just because they know right from wrong and care about America), and take the savage attacks and accusations they will face?

A Special Election Special; Or, Why I Am Not A Republican

A former Republican governor of a deeply Republican state is running for a deeply Republican U.S. House seat, but he is best known for claiming to be walking the Appalachian Trail while he was actually visiting his mistress in Argentina, and he has a court date two days after next Tuesday’s special election because he allegedly trespassed on his ex-wife’s property. His Democratic opponent has never run for office and would be totally unknown, except that her brother is one of the nation’s most popular comedians. They aren’t called special elections for nothing.

Stranger things have happened in politics and Kondik does a fine job analyzing the outcome of "troubled" races in the House over the past forty years or so. Maybe Anthony Weiner has a political future after all!

Pigford: Good Intention To Gigantic Fraud

When Andrew Breitbart's Big Journalism expressed concern about the class-action settlement called Pigford, he was ridiculed by the usual media suspects. That was last year. A few days ago, The New York Times verified that Breitbart had every right to be outraged at what has become an extraordinary fraud on taxpayers brought to us by our elected officials and their appointees in Washington. I won't belabor readers with my take on this one. All I ask is that my liberal readers read the NYT article before declaring Pigford just another target of unhinged conservatives. If liberals can't handle the news from their flagship source, here is a shorter version of the story from the editors of National Review Online.

If we keep spending money - taxpayer or Chinese loan - like this the country will not survive.

OTR applauds CNN for what seems to be a recommitment to traditional journalism.

Obama's Green "Investment" Begins To Smell

Most savvy news junkies already know that Obama's $535,000,000 guaranteed loan to the "exemplary" green industry manufacturer, Solyndra, is a complete loss to taxpayers. What they don't know is this: "Solyndra's majority owner, Oklahoma billionaire, George Kaiser, was a major fundraiser for the 2008 Obama-Biden campaign."

This administration promised us transparency. Fortunately, even the corruption is readily apparent. Unfortunately, our traditional/leftist media will do its best to hide the stench from the American people.

When Does Weiner's Nose Start Growing?

Looks like Congress's latest iteration of Pinocchio -that would be Anthony Weiner, D-NY, has himself in a big pickle. Today we have a new woman with 200 messages and photos, some of them too explicit for publication. Nevertheless, Big Government and Big Journalism plan on "releasing new photographs throughout the day."

OTR thinks this wretched, screaming moonbat's clock is winding down by the hour. Lots of potential NYC mayoral candidates will be happy to see him resign. His district is overwhelmed by solid democrat thinkers/voters, but at least they will have a chance to improve ethics in the House of Representatives.

Anthony's Weinergate

As expected, the mainstream media-ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, NYT, WaPo, et al- is ignoring an interesting story regarding Anthony Weiner (D-NY) and his Twitter account. The story involves a pornographic picture, a college girl, a high school girl, and accusations of hacking into Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Interestingly, Weiner has not called for an investigation into this potential federal crime though there is plenty of smoke emanating from the news and blog updates. There may be a flash over pending, but you would never know it from the media coverage.

Stay turned friends. Weiner should thank God that this story broke over Memorial Day weekend, giving most Americans three days to forget what their congressmen are up to. Unfortunately for him, there is a Tuesday this week.

Cooling The AGW Hoax

How pleasing to see the junk science of global warming unwinding before our eyes. Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit has a nice summary here. It is amazing to watch the believers - Boxer comes to mind - twisting in the wind and blaming the email "thieves" as the bad guys. This is quite the reversal from the "Pentagon Papers" days when those who would expose suspected wrongdoing stood for truth, justice, and the American way.

New Target For The White House

Dick Cheney is the new target of the Alinsky Rule 12 tactics being carried out by the White House. They have made their choice, now watch carefully over the next week or so to see how this target is:

1. Frozen
2. Personalized
3. Polarized

Look for points that isolate Cheney from his support network, listen for the usual negative adjectives directed at his person as a means of rallying the leftist fringe, look for ridicule, hyperbole and the redemptive call to take the "high ground" with progressives everywhere. Huzzah Free Speech

May I propose a rousing cheer for free speech in the United States. With some luck, the Obama White House will overlook this indiscretion and allow my humble blog to continue. Though you may find this hard to believe in this country, the White House actually tried to ban Fox News from interviewing our pay czar ,Kenneth Feinberg, at a joint major media outlet briefing they have attended since 1997. The five Washington bureau chiefs from those outlets stood together opposing the Fox News ban. They chose to hang together rather than hang separately. The White House soon relented.

I'm glad the chiefs understand this behavior on the part of the White House cannot be a part of American journalism. Read the incredible story for yourself.

Confident, accomplished leaders control without controlling. That they feel such a need should be a warning to those who stand with the principles of the Founding Fathers.

Rush Limbaugh Has Been "Duked"

The political talk on radio and television sells plenty of soap and keeps the pot stirred for the faithful, but I don't think it adds much to the serious debate. It does, however, provide opportunities to expose politics at its worst. Generally, I ignore the entertainments, but sometimes the results simply cannot be ignored. The case of Rush Limbaugh and his phantom racism comments is one of those times. The slander coming from the left has worked its magic and damaged Limbaugh to the point where he likely has a good legal case against the lie merchants at CNN, MSNBC, and ABC. If the corporate lawyers at these "news" organizations can't find those nasty quotes in the original sources at the Limbaugh archives, El Rushbo, if he wants to endure litigation, could buy a network and a football team with his winnings.

Some of the best coverage of this sad truth, for example, this piece by Tony Harnden writing at telegraph.com, is coming from the foreign press. The Duke University lacrosse team scandal should have been a good lesson for the left, but they managed to escape relatively undamaged. This foray into falsehoods could have a far different outcome.

It's Friday Afternoon At The White House

Well, the news dump is right on schedule this week:

Robert Groves, Director, U.S. Census Bureau, has terminated his agency's partnership agreement with ACORN. The agreement would have permitted the troubled, if not outright corrupt, organization to work with the bureau to "promote" the 2010 census. ACORN's baggage is really starting to smell. There are rumblings in several places that the scandal that brought on this break with Obama's former employer is just the beginning. Read more about current developments here and here.

A Prediction

I predict that Obama's Green Commie-Czar, Van Jones, could be tossed in tomorrow's White House Late Friday Afternoon News Dump. Remember, this is a holiday weekend, so people have three full days to "forget" Jones if he "resign" tomorrow. Many professional pundits say he won't last through the weekend.

This White House needs serious help vetting out the loonies. And it is frightening to think how many senior positions remain unfilled after seven and one half months into this administration..

Airbrushing History

Ted Kennedy went a different route. He got kitted out with a neck brace and went on TV and announced the invention of the "Kennedy curse," a concept that yoked him to his murdered brothers as a fellow victim - and not, as Mary Jo perhaps recognized in those final hours, the perpetrator. He dared us to call his bluff, and, when we didn't, he made us complicit in what he'd done. We are all prey to human frailty, but few of us get to inflict ours on an entire nation.

Colorado Democratic Headquarters Vandalized By One Of Their Own

We don't know if the vandals responsible for $11,000 in broken windows at the CDP headquarters were upset with their party's direction or simply involved in a setup to blame Republicans. Either way, Maurice Schwenkler, a suspect captured by Denver police definitely has connections to the left through work he performed in November 2008 for the Colorado Citizens Coalition. The 527 committee has ties to the Democratic Party.

A party spokeswoman originally blamed the damage on deranged right wing tea partyers opposed to Obama's health care proposal.

We're seeing more and more shenanigans these days, all contrived to project blame on innocent people and organizations. Some of this activity reflects the tactics and "rules for radicals" I have written about in several posts this year. I'm not saying those rules encourage lawlessness, but they do create an environment in which the rule of law can be threatened.

Breitbart On The Bush-By-Proxy Syndrome

As soon as this column by Andrew Brietbart reached an audience - probably sometime early Sunday - it was making news. Bloggers were talking first. It was everywhere on talk radio yesterday and on Fox News during prime time. The column is another fine analysis of how the left uses the tactics developed by Chicago's Saul Alinsky, the "father of community organizing" and how and why those tactics may be turning on Democrats.

If you were tuned into politics in the '90s, you already know about the "politics of personal destruction" as practiced by the Clinton administration. It comes from Rule 12 in Alinsky's Rules for Radicals and was practiced extensively against George Bush. But Bush is out of the picture now and the flailing about for new victims has exposed the leftist strategy for the pure, destructive hatred that it is. Breitbart has hit a nerve.

Power To The Internet

If you want to see the power of the Internet at work, check out this post at Patterico's Pontifications on Maria Isabel. She was a player in Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee's infamous town hall meeting last week. There was plenty of material to write about coming out of that meeting. I chose the cell phone story. The meeting also featured Roxana Mayer, posing as a physician. Isabel invited Mayer to attend that evening. And Maria Isabel? Many of you will remember her from this photo, taken at the Obama campaign headquarters in Houston. Bloggers at Babalu recognized her. Isabel and Mayer had front row seats at Jackson-Lee's town hall meeting. We shouldn't have any problems connecting the dots here, thanks to the Internet and its aficionados. Not only did we have plants with the AstroTurf - Houston, no less - we also had Che. Should be no question that these folks do not have the interests of the Founding Fathers in mind.
