Pathological Behavior Consumes The Leftist Women's Movement

My favorite online psychiatrist, Dr. Sanity, has applied her professional training and experience to Joy Behar's application of the term "bitch" to Nevada Senate candidate, Sharon Angle. Whatever your party preference, you have to give credit to the good doctor for her succinct point by point exposure of today's "women's movement" as a leftist political prison. My favorite analyst, Dr. Sanity, has some wisdom for us wrapped around the equally wise observations about academia by the Selma Oracle, Victor Davis Hanson. What a refreshing reality check! Thanks to Instapundit, OTR also found this Atlantic article on mass confirmation bias, a subject that ties directly into the therapy administered by Drs. Sanity and Hanson.

OTR finds it useless to attempt an improvement or elaboration on the message these posts bring to the reader, but he highly recommends the interesting message thread following the Atlantic post.

"He Was Coherent But Just Not Rational"

A leftist enviro-wacko died today at the Discovery Channel building in Sliver Spring, Maryland, after taking three hostages in protest over the cable network's programming. The event was telling enough, but a follow-up story in the Washington Post had an equally chilling quote from one Cynthia Philpott.

She and her boyfriend were new to Washington in 2008 when they decided to attend one of the enviro-wacko's Discovery Channel protests out of curiosity. Philpott related that his behavior was a bit challenging, but she followed up her comments with this remark:

He was coherent but just not rational.

I have written several posts over the past two years expressing my concern over what seems to be a national shift from a delicate social balance governed by reason to one governed by emotion. It is an "Alice in Wonderland" experience for the participant-observer to watch what is happening on the wrinkled edges of both political extremes in our nation. Even the words begin to lose their meanings and any hope of successful communication as a bridge to positive change is met with serious challenges. I will be interested to see how many old and new media folks catch Philpott's telling phrase and examine it for the pathology it represents. The analysis should be quite interesting, particularly of those "searchers" who may feel a bit unhinged over capitalism, the planet, and the implosion of the Soviet Union in late 1991. It is unfortunate that they seem to be ascendant lately.

Sanity Restored

Ah, the good news today is Dr. Sanity's return to blogging after a four month absence. That's a long time to go without a bit of her theraputic wisdom. Obviously rested and ready, in today's post she brings us her insightful commentary on the ingredients of human progress. The focal point for this exploration is Matt Ridley's new book, The Rational Optimist: How Prosperity Evolves, and a review by Gagdad Bob. The blog has a fine examination of the role of ethics and how its erosion leads individuals and the society they lead into narcissism and decline. References and links to the works of Ayn Rand and Thomas Sowell add to the discussion. There is no doubt in my mind that the key "boundary conditions" that have enabled the incredible advances in human progress around the world which have decreased both human misery and poverty everywhere is due to the adherence to a rational ethical system that allowed individuals to interact in a socially productive and mutually beneficial manner--"between brains" so to speak; without the use of brute force and government coercion.

Those boundary conditions are being systematically and deliberately dismantled and replaced by a medieval, irrational and unethical system, that depends primarily on force, involuntary servitude, and the submission of the individual to the will of the State.

Dr. Sanity is a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry and aerospace medicine. The photo of her at work is from her blog--obviously enjoys the work. I feel better already.

Entitled Race and Fairness, the post offers some eye-opening statistics and related links as the author dismantles what he calls the "pernicious legal theory" of disparate impact. Well worth your time. And given a day or two, I'd expect some equally interesting comments.

That Certain Feeling

Though we cannot predict the path through this new world with any certainty, there is vast space for speculation and Shrinkwrapped, the blogging psychiatrist, has taken up the challenge once more. More Hatred At UC-Irvine

The following video is of Cynthia McKinney speaking at the University of California-Irvine. McKinney is a full-on, Jew hating moonbat. This lunatic was my representative in Congress for two long years, from 2004 to 2006. Essentially, I had no representation, but I still paid my taxes. If you can stand to watch the full seven minutes and thirty-two seconds, you'll know why I value rational thinking.

Pelosi Steps Into Delusion

There is a good reason why the Congress of the United States is earning an approval rating hovering around 15%. We saw a perfect example today when Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Speaker of the House, issued a statement claiming the Central Intelligence Agency was "misleading" her on the issue of interrogation techniques. When asked if she was saying the CIA lied to her, she said yes. Her response came after several permutations of the briefing or briefings had been issued by her office over the past two weeks. Pelosi is spinning this story at her best because she has been caught. Sadly, she has spent much of her time as speaker in a state of denial acting at the fringe of the Democratic Party. By accusing the CIA of lying she has pushed herself from denial into delusion and thereby jeopardizing her role as a effective leader of her own party as well as the House.

Chances are she's going to survive this storm because derangement syndrome - Bush and otherwise - is a strong influence within her party. Dysfunction followed by derangement in the House isn't a positive sign for either party or for approval ratings or cooperation from heretofore trusted agencies of government. Stay close to this monster; it's alive!

Talking About Race
